Energy, Environment, and industrial Application Group

The activities of this group are studies and research in the field of energy systems, analysis, conservation, renewable energy utilization energy audits, Environmental Impact Assessment. (EIA).

The industrial engineering application includes preventive maintenance system implementation, industrial systems analysis.

The active contracts are:

  • The assessment Bio-masse based electricity and heat generation in Egypt and Morocco for development of remote areas and job creation.

Contractor Mansoura University / European Union Contract No CT94 AV 100006
    Nature Associate sub contractor.
    Beginning of activity   1995
    Activity terminated Feb. 1997

    Brief description of the activity:

The development of rural areas is connected with the availability of energy resources. The remote area suffers from the insufficiencies of energy resources. The expansion of electrical grid is usually requires heavy investments. The decentralized generation systems are proved to be an efficient system. The task allocated to IC is the evaluation of bio-masse potential, then the selection of sit for the implementation of pilot units, socio-economical evaluation of the selected sites will be included.

  • Solar Desalination for Development of Mediterranean Countries
Contractor Mediterranean Solar Council, MSC, UNESCO Wold Solar Summit Process.
Nature sub contractor to the Spanish Catalonian Institute of energy.
    Beginning of activity September 1995

    Brief description of the activity:

The development of remote and isolated areas is a must for the development of the global economy of the southern Mediterranean countries. The renewable energy presents a promising supply of energy, available in every place, does not represent any threat to the environment. The sustainable development passes by the water resources insufficiency, solar desalination represent a promising avenue. The solar potential in the southern Mediterranean countries is considered high, despite that these technologies are not widely used commercially, the pilot plants gave a reasonable acceptable result. The objective of this study is to evaluate the need and proposing a complete proposal for the development and the utilization of these technologies through a tide cooperation between the Mediterranean countries.

  • SOLAR Desalination for Development of Arab Countries
Contractor Arab association of atomic energy, (Arab league) UNESCO World Solar Summit Process activity.
    Nature direct contract

    Brief description of the activity:

The development of remote and isolated areas is a must for the development of the global economy of the Arab countries. The utilization of renewable energy preserves the environment. The sustainable development passes by the renewable energy utilization.

Most of the Arab countries suffer from the insufficiency of water resources. In order to respond to these problems of water resources insufficiency, solar desalination represent a promising avenue.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the need and proposing a complete proposal for the development of the utilization of these theologies.

  • Mediterranean Cooperation for Water Desalination Policies in the Perspective of a Sustainable Development (MED-CO-DESAL).
Contractor Mansoura University/ European commissions No (+30-1-7723218, 7723155)
    Beginning of activity October 1997
    End of activity October 2000

    Brief Description of the activity:

Water shortage problems are the main problem in Middle East countries. Egypt suffers from this crucial problem. A careful resource assessment is required in order to help the decision-maker taking the appropriate decision.

The task of IC as sub contractor is in order to made the following duties

    1. Water resource assessment for Egypt
    2. Assessment of the market potential
    3. Technology assessment

Tasks one and two have been terminated the water supply and demand for Egypt has been evaluated. Geographic Information System was used (GIS) all the collected data were introduced to the GIS

  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of lead melter Company

    Assessment of lead smelter

    Nature associate to chemunics Egypt
